With the weather getting hotter and the demand for healthy food becoming more prevalent, the number of vegan snacks that are vegan-friendly has grown exponentially.

Some are quite obvious, like vegan bread, and some are more subtle, like chickpeas.

One of the best ways to make a vegan snack without breaking the bank is to make vegan bread and then eat it with some vegan cheese.

It’s like eating a healthy salad and then eating some vegan bread.

Here’s how to make the best vegan bread at home.

Vegan-friendly vegan bread 1.5 cups of wholemeal flour 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup white sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 teaspoons salt 1/8 teaspoon black pepper 4 cups (about 10 loaves) unsalted organic breadcrumbs (or 1 tablespoon coconut oil) 1/3 cup vegan cheese (such as Daiya, GF or GF-free) 2 tablespoons honey (or agave) 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 1/10 teaspoon blackstrap molasses 1 tablespoon honey (plus more if you want) 1 1/16 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (or pure vanilla powder if you’re feeling fancy) To prepare the bread, melt the wholemeal, water and sugar in a saucepan over low heat.

Add the flour and stir constantly to make sure everything comes together.

Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the dough is doubled in size.

It should look like a very soft dough.

Once the dough has doubled in volume, add the honey and lemon juice and stir well.

Allow the dough to rise for at least an hour.

Add more water if needed, but be sure the dough isn’t sticking to the sides.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each piece into a tight ball.

Transfer to a greased baking tray and bake at 375° for about 20 minutes, until golden brown.

Turn the oven down to 400° and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool.

Alternatively, you can wrap each loaf in plastic wrap and freeze until needed.

Cook for an extra 10 minutes until the chickamole oil has melted and the chickpeam is soft.

Add some soy oil and mix well.

Add chickpeat and stir again.

Add a pinch of salt and a pinch or two of baking powder and stir.

Remove to a bowl and leave to sit for about 15 minutes.

Add soy milk and stir to combine.

Taste and add more salt if needed.
